Monday Magic, October 19, Direct Selling Parents

by Neil Phillips on October 19, 2009

Family MagicWelcome to this edition of Monday Magic.  Monday Magic is our effort to share some of the powerful insights found on the web with other direct selling coaches.  This week, The Direct Selling Women’s Alliance is celebrating Party with Your Kids Week.  This is our chance to show our children that they can have more than a 9-to-5 J-O-B. Today’s version of magic will highlight resources and thought streams to help you make this week memorable.

By the way, this week the DSWA Coaching Center will be celebrating Party with Your Kids with several entries from direct selling coaches on our theme.

On behalf of the authors of the DSWA Coaching Center, we urge you to subscribe to the blogs that you find worthwhile.  If you are a blog neophyte, the process isn’t painful.  Most blogs, like this one, offer you an opportunity to subscribe by email.  If you are just starting, choose that option and when something new is posted, it will show up in your inbox.  If the article isn’t working, hit delete and wait for the next one.  Not every post will touch your head, heart or hands, but none ever will without your initial click.

Family Habits.  I want to start with a BIG shout out for a new blog on Family Habits.  It offers some great insights into healthy family activities and parental behaviors.  One of my favorite posts was 10 Ways to Reconnect with Your Family although I will admit to reading all of the posts.

Letting Go of Perfection.  I am not throwing stones.  Doesn’t every parent want their child to be perfect?  Stephen Mills gives us a great alternative to perfectionist thinking in his blog, The Rat Race Trap.

Let Go and Get More.  With so much emphasis on starting to appear on minimalist lifestyles, it’s great to read Ali Hale’s blog post on 15 Simple Ways to Get a Bit More from Life.  I dare you to read the list and not find a great family activity.

Become Self Employed.  Most direct sellers have it as a second source of income or as part-time employment.  Have you thought about stepping it up?  Leo Babauta, in his blog, Zen Habits, gives some great coaching advice about getting started.

We’d love to hear your reactions to these brief articles.  Pick one, read it, and offer a comment.  What have you been reading lately?  Share it in a comment or even a guest post.  Get Free Updates to the DSWA Coaching Center by Email here or via an RSS reader in the top right sidebar.  We would love to have you on board.
